Anyone who has ever shopped in a retail environment will have noticed a dome mirror attached to the ceiling or wall of the business. These dome mirrors have become synonymous with safety as they often house security cameras used to record activity in the business. Security mirrors can also be used in warehouse settings and hospitals for the same purpose.
The Retail Business and Dome Security Mirrors
In the retail business, the dome security mirrors are attached either flush to the ceiling or hanging from an extension bracket. The extension brackets are most often used in businesses where ceiling height impairs the visibility of camera images. With hanging brackets, the wiring for any security cameras is fed through the middle of the bracket to conceal which domes have cameras and which do not.
The flush mount allows the security wires to be hidden in the walls. Flush mount dome mirrors come in three shapes or styles. The 360 degree dome looks like a half circle and provides a greater range of viewing space. The half dome security mirror is comprised on one half a circle and the quarter dome mirror, one quarter circle. Half and quarter dome mirrors use only flush wall brackets to attach the security mirrors to a wall, ceiling or combination of both.
The Warehouse and Dome Security Mirrors
Aside from the retail establishment, the warehouse can also increase security with the use of dome mirrors. Due to the height of warehouse ceilings, many domes are suspended and lowered to a more usable level. These dome mirrors are about reflection and more. Due to their common usage as security camera housings, some of the security the dome mirrors provide is based on the fact that a camera MAY be located in the dome even when there are no cameras.
In a warehouse setting, the loading and unloading docks are often the primary source of theft. The open doors are the perfect place for merchandise to be pushed onto the ground below. Dome mirrors can prevent or curb this type of employee theft by allowing supervisors to watch multiple docks by viewing one dome mirror from different angles.
The Hospital and Dome Security Mirrors
Most people do not think of hospitals as a place where security is needed. However, theft and negligence do occur in the hospital setting. Dome mirrors allow supervisors to watch various aspects of their surroundings from one central location. For instance, dome security mirrors can be positioned so triage nurses can view the number of people waiting in the ER at any given time.
Safety mirrors have function in just about every public setting. Whether the units will be housing security cameras or providing a bird's eye view for safety reasons, the dome mirror is an ideal solution.
